For me, the most valuable feature of TidyMyMusic is the duplicate song search. It’s no secret that duplicate files take up hard drive space and TidyMyMusic is designed to help eliminate these files quickly and easily. TidyMyMusic’s duplicate song search automatically identifies these duplicate files. Then, it’s up to the user to decide whether or not to keep the files. The process is very simple. First you, select what you want to be searched – your iTunes library or local folders. If you choose the iTunes library, you will be able to then select if you want specific playlists or the entire library to be searched. Once you have made your selection, you click the scan button with the “Search for Duplicated Songs” checked.
I’ve also experimented with identifying songs that are missing information or mislabeled. I would say about 97% of the songs were correctly identified. There are some songs that I have that are either taken from a movie or simply not recognized correctly. The nice thing about this feature is that the user remains in control.
